NAVIGATING NEW TERRAIN ON OUR LENTEN JOURNEY

Pastor Diana Linden-Johnson and Reverend Dana Peterson presided and preached last Sunday. Reverend Peterson reminded the community of that passionate, feisty apostle Simon Peter. Peter’s storied journey from tempestuous water-walker to committed and faithful leader — a “rock” — is long and quite … human. Saint Peter Lutheran Church will navigate the new terrain before us with grace and love, patient with our fellow humans, and committed to each other and the work God accomplishes through us.

Pastor Vera Guebert-Steward will join Saint Peter this weekend as we continue our Lenten journey. If you have questions, please reach out to council@stplc.org.

WOMEN AND WEALTH: MAKING BLANKETS FOR THE GATHERING PLACE (FRIDAY, MARCH 1, 5-7PM) AT SAINT PETER

Come make blankets for The Gathering Place, a local non-profit that provides basic necessities and care to homeless women and children. These blankets will offer warmth and comfort to those managing challenging circumstances. We will provide all supplies, as well as delicious food and drinks! Come spend time with your sisters in Christ and make a difference! (RSVP Jenn Stenbak 303-257-0904 or jennifer.stenbak@8z.com)

If you are interested in further supporting The Gathering Place, consider bringing unopened and unexpired hygiene items (travel or full-size), and we will deliver them with the blankets (e.g. shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, deodorant, razors/shaving cream, individually-wrapped toothbrushes, toothpaste, dental floss/flossers, period products (especially maxi pads!), Q-tips, sunscreen, Chapstick, brushes/combs, product for black and/or textured hair, full-size makeup products or makeup testers, perfume).

SUNDAY FUNDAY & BLESSING BOWLS

This Sunday, we will paint our blessing bowls!

FAMILY MINISTRIES GOES GLOBAL

Saint Peter is participating in the Lutheran World Relief’s “A Season of Hope.” We will assemble Personal Care Kits for distribution. Last year, 123,920 Personal Care Kits were delivered to 13 countries through LWR! You can help put God’s love into action for those across the world who are suffering. Our Sunday Funday kids will collect items each week and assemble complete kits for delivery through LWR.

UP TO GOOD! SHENANIGANS AT SAINT PETER

Last weekend, Saint Peter was noisy! Confirmation students from Saint Peter, Bethany, and Epiphany Lutheran had the opportunity to be in community and grow in faith. The kids played games, ate pizza, made music, worshipped and prayed together. Thank you to all who helped make this a safe, inviting and inspiring event!

OTHER WAYS TO HELP COVENANT CUPBOARD:
Monetary donations to CCFP are always welcome. Your donations help maintain a robust pantry for folks who face food insecurity and hardship – we serve new families each week! You can write a check to Saint Peter with “Covenant Cupboard” or “CCFP” in the memo line, or make it out directly to Covenant Cupboard. The food pantry is an independent 501(C)3 nonprofit.

Support CCFP by shopping at King Soopers/City Market! Obtain a loyalty card from King Soopers/City Market and go online (www.kingsoopers.com). Set up your account, select “My Account” and “Community Rewards.” Enter DC406 to select Covenant Cupboard Food Pantry. As your designated nonprofit, CCFP will receive part of the proceeds from your purchases. Encourage your family, friends, and neighbors to join you in supporting CCFP when they shop!

We love to give books to the children who visit the food pantry! Do you have new or gently used picture books for infants and toddlers? Contact Laura Guthals or Terri Mohrhaus if you have books to donate.

CCFP serves between 150-200 families a week, many of whom are new to the pantry, or new to the country. This service is vital and life-changing. Thank you for your help!
