Saturday! Church Chicks Events

Saturday will be a busy day for the StPLC Church Chicks. We will have our October gathering at Panera for coffee, we will be delivering clothes collected for Dress for Success and we will be serving lunch at The Delores Project. If you’re available to do one or more of these activities, please let Annie or Jo know.

Sunday Morning Faith Forum Focusing On Inspired

Faith Forum will continue to explore Rachel Held Evans’ book Inspired. If you don’t have time to read the book, please come anyway. A brief chapter overview will be provided before the discussion begins. Grab a cup of coffee and a friend and come to Covenant Hall from 9:40 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.

Fall 2019 Stewardship Campaign, 20/20 Vision

Beginning Sunday, October 13, and running through Commitment Sunday, November 17, the StPLC Stewardship Team will be focusing on three initiatives for 2020.

  • Growing the Youth and Family Ministry at Saint Peter.

  • Habitat for Humanity and the significance of this ministry in our community.

  • Conducting a Comprehensive Ministry Review with an ELCA-trained facilitator to help Saint Peter plan for the future

Below is a timeline of events for this fall’s Stewardship Appeal. We ask that you spend some quiet time with God and pray for the church and the path that God has set for Saint Peter. You might even enjoy spending time on the labyrinth or in the prayer chapel we’ve set up in the cry room at the back of the Worship Center.

StPLC Has a New Member Database

Earlier this year, Lynn Sherpe in the Saint Peter office began the monumental task of setting up a new Saint Peter member database that will better serve the church and our attendees. This new system allows us to manage attendance, giving, contact information, and much more in an easy and secure way.

What does this mean for you?

In the next week, one person in your family will be receiving an email asking you to create an account and update your family's profile. The process should only take five minutes yet it will save the church office an incredible amount of time.

Note: You are NOT making your information public by updating your database profile. At some point in the future, Saint Peter may have a password protected online member directory. If/when that time comes, you will be able to opt-out of that directory if that’s what you prefer. For now, this information will only be accessed by Saint Peter's leadership.

Thank you for your support in bringing Saint Peter into 2020 and beyond!

Bishop Gonia At Saint Peter October 27th

Rev. Bishop Jim Gonia will be visiting Saint Peter on Reformation Sunday, October 27th, during the one festive Worship Service at 9:00 a.m. The congregation is requested to wear red in honor of Reformation Sunday.

Bishop Gonia will help us to celebrate by speaking during worship, presiding at the Eucharist and leading the entire congregation in an interactive activity that will help us explore what it means to be Lutherans in today’s world. This is a special and unique opportunity for our congregation — one of those events you won’t want to have missed — and we encourage you all to attend.

Worship: 9:00 a.m.
Refreshments: 10:00 a.m.
Bishop’s Presentation: 10:15 a.m.

This all-ages (grade school to seniors) interactive activity will explore the particular gifts our Lutheran tradition has to offer, and how we can work together to make a difference in the world. Be sure to mark this date on your calendars, and join us at 9:00 a.m.

Trunk or Treat and Chili Cook-Off October 27th

Mark your calendars for Sunday, October 27th, and join the kids for Saint Peter’s Trunk or Treat and Chili Cook-Off hosted by Saint Peter’s Youth and Family Ministry Team. We will have prizes for the best-decorated trunk and top tasting chili – all entries are welcome, so come prepared or just come to eat and enjoy! Festivities will begin around 11:30 a.m., following worship service and the discussion with Bishop Jim Gonia that morning. Hope to see you there!

Kitchen Cleanup Reminder

A reminder that Saint Peter does not have a staff member to clean up or look after the kitchen, so please always clean up after yourself and pitch in a little extra if you notice a mess has been left behind. If you use the kitchen, you are responsible for washing dishes and returning them to the cabinets as you found them. If you choose to put dishes in the dishwasher, be sure to rinse them off first. If you find the dishwasher dishes are clean, please put them away. Additionally, wipe down countertops, clean up spills on the floor, and put the trash in the outside dumpster
