Our Worship Services
Saint Peter is a liturgical church. Liturgy is an ancient Greek word meaning the work of the people. A liturgical church is one that allows its life to be shaped by how God’s people have worshiped together for centuries. Thinking about all the people who have said the same words over the years adds a deeper level of community to thel worship experience.
At Saint Peter, three visible signs of our liturgical commitment are: our Order for Worship, which serves as an outline for what we do when we assemble; the annual Church Calendar, which determines what the focus of any given Sunday, Festival, or Commemoration will be; and the three-year Lectionary, which appoints Bible readings and prayers for each day in the Church Calendar.
The early service (at 8:30 throughout the year) adheres more closely to the traditional liturgy and will be especially comfortable to those who are accustomed to Lutheran worship—and early birds.
The late service (at 10:00 in the summer, and 10:45 in the winter) is more contemporary in its music selections, instrumentation, and overall feel. This service is more comfortable for those who like to sleep in!
