Music Ministry

Music ministry at Saint Peter is a vibrant and ever-changing effort led by Steve Howie. With vocal and bell choirs for many ages and skill levels, a regular worship band and myriad opportunities for special music, there is a place for your musical talent here!

Opportunities within Music Ministry:

Jubilate Choir – meets Wednesdays from 7:30 to 8:45 p.m. Open to all ages and experience, the choir sings each week in worship. We will also be working on a larger work this fall and will often collaborate with other groups to help create powerful worship experiences through music. No previous music experience necessary!

Alleluia Ringers – Open to all high school age and above, this multi-generational group learns to work together to create unique and beautiful music in worship each month. This is a growing group that is looking for you! Limited note reading ability is helpful.  Look for more information as our weekly schedule will likely be different this year. Your input is most helpful!

Children’s Choir – this group has fun learning about God through songs, plays, and drama. The group often is split into different age groups to learn age appropriate skills. The choir sings occasionally in worship and generally produces a larger play at least once per year. Open to preschool through 9th grade. Schedule TBA.

Brass Ensemble – generally meets twice per month, but is flexible to member’s schedules. This group has fun playing a variety of chamber brass repertoire and typically plays once per month in worship. We are especially looking for trumpet and F-horn players, but all high school age and above brass players are welcome.

Woodwind Quintet – this group meets occasionally and enjoys playing traditional literature every few weeks in worship.

Worship Band – meets Thursdays at 8:00 p.m. This group leads worship each week for our contemporary service. We are looking to possibly create a rotation schedule of musicians to help add consistency of numbers in the band each week. If you are interested in auditioning for this group, please contact Steve Howie.

Tech Team – This is a great team for people who love technology, who love to control sound (think of getting that perfect “mix” on your stereo or iPod), and who love to be a behind-the-scenes, yet vital part of our worship ministry.  Members of this team do everything from run audio/visual at services to wiring & installing equipment, helping with technical issues at special events, etc.  If this sounds like an interesting challenge to you, please contact Steve Flessner, Rick Brydum or Steve Howie for more details.

Assisting Minister – The primary role of the assisting minister is to lead the people in prayer. This is an easy, wonderful way to help lead our worship and truly make a difference at Saint Peter! There are singing and non-singing spots open today. Some folks like to write their prayers, but there are prayers provided if you prefer. For more information, talk to Steve Howie.

Musical Production Teams – We are making plans for another musical/large event this year and with that comes the need for lots of help with costumes, sets, stage managers, lighting, etc. If you have a passion for theatre but don’t want an on-stage experience, there is a lot you can do here! Contact Dawn Brodin or Steve Howie if you are interested.

Support/clerical – of course, if you would like to support our ministries in a different way, there is always a need for music filing, stamping, and other organizational duties.  These things help keep our groups moving along and can help leaders focus upon growing ministries rather than shuffling paper.  Please see Steve Howie to learn more.
